Titanium is a strong, lightweight, corrosion-resistant metal that has been of commercial importance since about 1950. Because its properties are between those of steel and aluminum, its importance has been increasing rapidly. Titanium and titanium alloys are used in aerospace applications, in such diverse areas as chemical- and electro-chemical-processing equipment, food-processing equipment, marine implements, medical implants, sporting goods. Only recently titanium has been applied to jewelry industry.

Because of its high strength titanium jewelry has to be forged out of a solid block of metal. This is the reason why titanium rings can not be resized. Titanium alloys are generally grouped into three classes based on their micro structural features. Titanium is also available in several grades usually alloyed with other metals for improving its properties. Titanium alloys are even stronger than pure titanium, which can not be useful for jewelry. We suggest you to choose jewelry made from pure titanium.

Titanium is biocompatible, comfortable and very light. It gained its popularity in wedding jewelry being very easy to get used to wearing. Titanium is roughly 1/3 the weight of gold.

Care
Being very strong, titanium doesn't have to be taken care of as any other jewelry metal. While it can show some scratches, simple polishing will keep it looking new.
